Description

Romain Pizzato is Principal scientist in the immunology platform within the Analytical Sciences department in Sanofi R&D vaccine at Marcy l’Étoile site, in France. He holds a master’s degree in biotechnology obtained at the Superior National School of Biotechnology of Bordeaux and a bachelor’s in biology obtained at Paris VII university. From 2001 to 2002, he worked sequentially as a Scientist at the Pasteur institute (Paris) and at Avax Technologies (USA). Then, he has been working as lab head of an analytical unit in Aventis Pharma then Sanofi from 2003 to 2014 at Vitry Sur Seine Research center. He was in charge of the development and validation of potency assays (binding and cell-based assays) and impurity assays (ex: HCP) for characterization and release testing of monoclonal and ADC biotherapeutics. He joined Sanofi Pasteur in 2014 where he was, as lab head, in charge of the development of potency assay for new vaccine projects and the innovation in immunoanalysis. In the 10 past years, he dedicated a part of his activity to develop in vitro alternatives to in vivo potency and safety assays.
